International Summer School on Neurogenetics and Medical Genomics (2025)
To foster academic exchange and collaboration in medical genetics among countries along the "Belt and Road" initiative, enhance cross-cultural understanding, and promote Chinese cultural exchange, the School of Life Sciences at Central South University (CSU), in partnership with the Key Laboratory of Pediatric Rare Diseases under the Ministry of Education and Furong Laboratory, proudly presents the 2025 International Summer School on "Neurogenetics and Medical Genomics." Rooted in the millennia-old city of Changsha and infused with the profound heritage of Huxiang culture, this program is open to undergraduates, master’s students, and doctoral candidates worldwide. It aims to cultivate medical genetics professionals with both global perspectives and cultural sensitivity through a dual integration of cutting-edge academic exchange and immersive local cultural experiences.
By combining systematic coursework and hands-on training, the program seeks to build a global collaborative network for medical genetics research. While strengthening participants’ theoretical knowledge, research skills, and clinical translation capabilities, it features a dedicated cultural immersion module. Participants will explore the scholarly legacy of the Yuelu Academy, the historical richness of the Mawangdui Han Tombs, and the unique cultural charm of Changsha—the "Land of Qu Yuan and Jia Yi"—to deeply understand the continuity of Chinese civilization. The curriculum focuses on genetic mechanisms of major human diseases (e.g., neuropsychiatric disorders), covers advanced genomic analysis methods and clinical case studies, and includes the "Xiangya Medical Humanities Lecture Series" to showcase Chinese medical ethics and wisdom.
