On April 27,2026, Professor Sheng Xiaoping from the Collegel of Cultural Heritage and Information Management at Shanghai University was invited to participate in the Central South University Distinguished Scholars Forum. He delivered a thematic academic lecture titled "Analysis of Open Science and Policy in China" at the D625 Academic Lecture Hall of the College of Life Sciences on the Xinglin Campus. The lecture was chaired by Professor Hu Dehua, the vice dean.

Professor Sheng Xiaoping's report reviewed the development history and core principles of Chinese open science policy. Professor Sheng reported the core essence of open science: to break through traditional barriers in scientific research and establish a more transparent and inclusive research ecosystem. He systematically outlined the five core dimensions of open science and the three major laws governing its policy evolution.
Professor Sheng pointed out that the current open science policies in our country exhibit a structural imbalance characterized by equal emphasis on the environmental and supply aspects, while the demand aspect is seriously lacking. He deeply analyzed the core pain points currently faced and proposed the construction of a dynamic framework for open science policies that integrates "policy goals, policy entities, policy coordination, policy process, and policy environment" into a five-part system.
During the interactive session, faculty and students actively posed questions. Professor Sheng provided professional and detailed responses, which resonated widely throughout the audience.

Finally, Vice Dean Hu Dehua delivered a concluding speech, representing the college to express sincere gratitude to Professor Sheng for his wonderful presentation.
