The Medical Genetics Research Center of Central South University keeps pace with the international academic frontiers, serves the major demands of the country and Hunan Province, overcomes key technologies, and conducts genetic, epigenetic and molecular pathological mechanism research on prevalent and serious genetic diseases such as neurodegenerative diseases, mental disorders and intellectual disabilities. It develops new diagnostic and therapeutic methods and actively promotes their clinical application.

The research center primarily focuses on the following three areas of research:

1. Studies on the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms of major human diseases.

2. Research on the molecular pathological mechanisms of major human diseases.

3. Clinical Genetics and Gene Therapy.
